Toys My Dog Destroys: Striped Frog

It's a tragically short tale, the tale of Striped Frog. Here she is before I gave her to Major on June 12:

Sadly, her pristine condition lasted only a day. Here she is on June 13, eviscerated. Major stands over his kill:

On June 16, Major managed the rare head break-in, pulling out all the stuffing:

And here Striped Frog is before I threw her away on June 25, literally a shell of her former self. I feel hers was a cruel fate, her innards pulled out via her crotch and throat:

I bought Striped Frog at a major pet store retailer for $2.50. She truly only lasted 4 days.

Toys My Dog Destroys: One-Armed Frog

Poor little frog came with a defect: he was one-armed from the start, something I didn't notice until after I brought him home. A cursory examination indicated that this came about due to a manufacturer error. I don't think he ever had a second arm:

Nonetheless, he was apparently happy enough to go to his doom on May 3. Being one of those stretchy toys that are slightly more durable, he had a pretty good run. Major didn't bust into his head until May 19, more than 2 weeks later. As I was trying to snap a picture of the destruction, I couldn't get Major to stay out of the picture. In the first, you can see his snout at the far left of the frame:

Then he planted himself in the way until I gave up and just intentionally took a picture with him in it:

One-Armed Frog hung around for about three weeks after that, mostly due to my laziness. Major didn't play with him much once he was empty. Here he is on June 12 before I threw him away. You can see the hole in the back of his head where Major busted in to get the squeaker and stuffing:

I bought One-Armed Frog at a major pet store retailer for $2.50. He lasted slightly more than a month, not nearly as long as his brother, Red Fox.

Toys My Dog Destroys: Red Fox

Sadly, there isn’t going to be much to this post, for reasons that are explained below.

I bought Red Fox because I wanted a toy that I was pretty sure would take a while to destroy. Red Fox seemed to be the ticket. The only stuffed portions were his head and tail. The middle was made of a stretchy fabric that was unfilled. Major always has trouble busting open the heads of toys, and the stretch of the fabric in the middle made it easier to throw. Perfect!

Here’s Red Fox before I gave him to Major on 3/18/15:

Major loved this toy, and so did I. It took him about a month to bust into the head and remove the squeaker and stuffing. I had a great picture of it. Unfortunately, if you read my post about my visit to CSC, you’ll know that I broke my phone. That picture was still on the phone, which is broken in such a way that no data can be retrieved from it, so I lost it. I was also too lazy to write down the date Major de-stuffed him (I expected to get the date from the picture), but I think it was a couple of weeks ago.

Major’s enthusiasm dimmed for Red Fox after he was de-stuffed, although only slightly. He still played with him, and he never managed to bust open the tail. He probably would have continued to play with him if I’d let him, but we were at the pet store yesterday and they had other toys that were similar, so I decided to pick up a couple.

Here’s Red Fox before I threw him away on 5/3/15. Notice the gruesome lobotomy job Major did on him. He ripped a couple of holes in the middle as well:

I bought Red Fox at a major pet store retailer for $2.50. He lasted about a month and a half. He was well worth it.

Toys My Dog Destroys: Funny Dinosaur

I loved this adorable, dorky little dinosaur. Here he is before I gave him to Major on February 11:

Unfortunately, the dorky little dinosaur lasted all of maybe ten minutes. Here is the destruction:

I was a bad dog mom this time around and didn't have a back-up in the house. Then I was struck by a fit of extreme laziness, preventing me from going out to get more toys. So poor Major was toy-less for over a month. He occasionally ran around with "the rag," as I came to call Funny Dinosaur, when he was really excited, but toward the end he even got tired of that.

Here's the toy before I threw it away on March 18. Note that he's turned inside out. I didn't do that:

I bought Funny Dinosaur at a major pet store retailer for $2.50. He literally lasted maybe 10 minutes. Hopefully the next toy has better endurance!

Toys My Dog Destroys: Green Grateful Dead Bear

Okay, so she’s not really a Grateful Dead Bear, but her color reminded me of those iconic bears, hence the nickname. I gave her to Major on January 11, 2015. Here are her pre-destruction pics:

He got the stuffing out of her body that very same day:

Here he is with his conquest:

This scene struck me as particularly sad. Here is Green Bear next to one of the cat's toys:

Despite removing all of the stuffing out of the body, Major continued to play a lot with Green Bear. This was by far one of his favorite toys. He's always had trouble getting the stuffing out of toys' heads; he just can't seem to finesse it out. However, on January 15, he busted into Green Bear's head:

Even after de-stuffing her head, he continued to play with her a lot. She was good for throwing and playing tug-of-war. Some time during the week of January 26, he pulled off one of her legs while we were playing tug-of-war. I didn't take a picture at the time because I was sick that week. After that, he continued to play with her, and sometimes with just her leg. Hilariously, the cat sometimes played with her torn-off leg as well. Here is the leg before I threw it away:

And here is all of Green Grateful Dead Bear before I threw her away on February 11:

I bought her for $2.50 at a major pet store retailer. She lasted only one month, but she was well worth the money because Major absolutely loved her.

Toys My Dog Destroys: Yellow Slipper and Striped Monkey

I have a weird sense of humor, so when I saw a toy shaped like a slipper, I thought it would be pretty funny to buy that for my dog, not that we've never had a problem with Major going after our slippers. Here is yellow slipper when I gave it to Major on 12/12/14:

Major was extremely fond of yellow slipper, as you can see here:

That very same day, he'd chewed off enough of the yellow fuzz on the outside to create a bare patch, so I figured the toy wasn't long for this world:

Sure enough, by the next day, Yellow Slipper was destroyed:

Here Major is in the act of pulling out some of the stuffing:

In fact, he destroyed Yellow Slipper so violently that he somehow flung the squeaker up on top of the printer:

Even so, Major loved this toy, and continued to play with it every day. It was still easy to throw because it had the flap that I could hold onto. So I kept it around, but it was leaving little yellow fuzzies all over the house. Finally, on 1/4/15, my husband insisted we throw it away. Here's Yellow Slipper before it went in the trash:

That same day, I gave Striped Monkey to Major:

Within ten minutes, Striped Monkey was already torn open:

Is it my imagination or does Major look a little regretful to have destroyed his new toy so quickly?

On 1/10/15 Major somehow found more stuffing in Striped Monkey to pull out:

I threw Striped Monkey away on 1/11/15:

These toys were bought at the same time from a major pet store retailer for $2.50 each. Yellow Slipper lasted about 3 weeks. Striped Monkey lasted only a week (in reality, only about 10 minutes).

Toys My Dog Destroys: Blue Pig

I gave Blue Pig to Major on November 9. Look how happy he is to be of service:

Major got pretty much all of the stuffing and the squeaker out on November 19:

After that, Blue Pig was kind of hard to play with. Since he was basically flat and empty, he wasn’t conducive to throwing. I’d try to toss him and he’d go maybe a foot or so. Therefore, Major quickly lost interest in him. I threw him away on December 12, but I only kept him around that long because I didn’t have any back-up toys (fail, I know).

Look at this small hole Major made that he somehow pulled all the stuffing through:

I bought Blue Pig from a major pet store retailer for $2.50. He lasted approximately one month.

Toys My Dog Destroys: Little Piggy & Colorful Dragon

A two-for-one post. As you may recall, I kept Little Piggy around long after Major had mostly destroyed her, curious to see if he would go back to playing with her after destroying new toys. I discovered that, like most everyone, my dog pretty much always prefers new toys. It's best that he has only one at a time.

Here is Little Piggy on the day I gave her to Major, June 16:

He tore a hole in her on July 4 & pulled out her squeaker and most of her stuffing:

He managed to finagle some more stuffing out of her on July 12:

Here she is on the day I threw her away, November 9. Like most of his toys, he never managed to get the stuffing out of her head. She cost me $3.00 at a major pet store chain and lasted nearly 5 months, although he really didn't play with her much after July.

Here is Colorful Dragon on the day I gave him to Major, August 20:

He got the squeaker and nearly all the stuffing out on September 5:

Sometime in early November, Major pulled more stuffing out of Colorful Dragon, although I'm not sure where he found it because it wasn't from his head. My husband cleaned up this stuffing before I could take a picture of it.

I threw Colorful Dragon away the same day as Little Piggy, November 9, in order to make way for a new toy.

Major liked Colorful Dragon a lot. He continued to play with him long after the squeaker and stuffing were gone. This toy cost me $2.50 at a major pet store chain and lasted approximately 2.5 months.
