I doubted your map-making ability because how could India be all around Bangladesh like that, but my doubt was misplaced. Googled maps tell me the same thing. Country borders are kind of fascinating.
Oh ye of little faith! Bangladesh is mostly surrounded by India because it used to be part of India. Or at least, the western half (Hindu majority) used to be part of India, whereas the eastern half (Muslim majority) used to be part of Pakistan, which makes little sense since Pakistan is to the west of India, but there you go. They won their independence in 1971. That's the war both the book and the movie I listed speak of.
